Mother of the gods, the One, the Only,

Mistress of the Crowns, thou rulest all;

Sekhmet is thy name when thou are wrathful,

Bast, beloved, when thy people call.

Daughter of the sun, with flame and fury

Flashing from the prow upon the foe;

Safely sails the boat with thy protection

Passing scatheless where thy fires glow.

Daughter of the Sun, the burial chamber

Lies in the darkness til thy light appears.

From thy Throne of Silence send us comfort,

Bast, beloved, banish all our fears.

Mother of the gods, no gods existed

Til thou camest there and gave them life.

Sekhmet of the boat, the wicked fear thee

Trampling down all evil and all strife.

News: 27 statues of goddess Sekhmet unearthed in Luxor

"An Egyptian-European archaeological mission working in Luxor Governorate uncovered a collection of 27 fragmented statues of the lioness goddess Sekhmet, ‎Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities said in a statement on Sunday. He added that some of the statues depict the goddess Sekhmet sitting on the throne, holding the symbol of life in her left hand, or standing and holding a papyrus scepter in front of her chest. The head is crowned with a sun disk and the Uraeus adorns her forehead. "

Goddess News: Sekhmet Statue Unveiled

 

Egyptian goddess statue unveiled in İzmir’s Red Basilicaz. 

 

From the article:  "An almost nine-meter long lion-headed Egyptian goddess Sekhmet has been revived in the Red Basilica (Kızıl Avlu) in the largest structure of the ancient city of Pergamon in İzmir’s Bergama district, and opened to visits on Sept. 26. The statue has already drawn great interest from tourists in the area.  German Excavation Institute Chairman Ferix Pilson said it would contribute to Bergama’s inclusion in the UNESO Cultural Heritage list in June next year. The Egyptian statue pieces found during the excavations since 1930 in the Red Basilica are among the most important statues from the Roman Empire. Among them, the lion-headed goddess statue was reconstructed thanks to the support of the Studiosus Foundation. The statue was raised last year for trial purposes and with further works, and it reached an impressive height of 8.5 meters."
